FOUNTAIN VALLEY REGIONAL HOSPITAL

PGY-1 Pharmacy Residency

Pharmacy residents completing the FVRH PGY-1 Pharmacy Residency will be competent and confident in the management of medication therapy for various disease states. During clinical rotations, residents are expected to refine their skills and develop expertise as a drug therapy specialist through the provision of patient care services. They will demonstrate proficiency in communication and in educating other health care professionals, patients, students, and the community on drug related topics. They will also demonstrate professional maturity by developing a personal philosophy of practice, monitoring their own performance, and exhibiting commitment to the profession. Graduates of this program will create working career plans and possess marketable job skills.

Fountain Valley Regional Hospital & Medical Center has been offering an ASHP-Accredited PGY-1 training program in General Pharmacy Practice since 2006. The goal is to provide pharmacy residents with skills, behaviors, and attitudes needed to prosper professionally in the challenging and dynamic
arena of an acute care hospital pharmacy.

The philosophy of this pharmacy practice program is to challenge residents to achieve their individual goals and to become more complete and well-rounded professionals who appreciate and reciprocate a lifelong commitment to learning and teaching.

Additionally, Fountain Valley is located in the heart of Orange County and will offer residents endless opportunities for exploration of both beaches and mountain terrain.
